WORLD BROTHERHOOD MARCH
KOLKATA, 8TH JANUARY, 2012
With immense pride
and glory the World Brotherhood March was
organised in Kolkata, India, from Scottish Church
College (Near Swami Ji’s ancestral home) in to
Dakshineswar & Adyapith Temple, on 8th
January, 2011. The MARCH aimed to bring together
people from all religions and persuasions in support
of peace and harmony. It was an opportunity for
people from different faiths, even people who aren't
particularly religious, to join together.
His Holiness Sri
Sri Ravi Shankar Ji
had inaugurated the March. The participants came
from all Religions, Ashrams, Missions, Voluntary
organizations, Singers, Educationists, etc. The
MARCH will played a vital role in promoting world
peace and universal brotherhood.
To dispel the
insecurities caused by religion, caste and creed,
people from all walks of life and various religious
backgrounds had assembled here to address those
social issues which can be rectified through
collective actions and proper awareness. This
individual transformation can only lead to group
transformation and thus world peace.
Throughout history
of mankind, in the midst of human suffering and
misery, religious doctrine and practice, have played
significant roles in creating new communities of
love, compassion, understanding, caring, sharing and
trusting. Religious organizations have a crucial
role to play in changing public opinion and
maintaining the social and moral fabric of society.
Since these issues are intricately related to the
societal fabric, it calls for strategies towards
bringing about a change in people’s mindset. This is
a Herculean task and requires action by every
section of society. Let’s strengthen ties among all
communities and help citizens to serve themselves
better. Therefore, the organisors of WORLD
BROTHERHOOD MARCH have decided to continue this
initiative annually.
